Homosexuality and Gospel of Inclusion
I recently read an article, Taking a Lead on Faith: Four Black Pastors at the Forefront of LGBT Equality that was featured at Ebony/Wellness & Empowerment.
The subject of the article, a discussion of the position taken by several prominent black clergy members challenging “THE STEREOTYPE OF THE ANTI-GAY BLACK CHURCH.”
There are many arguments supporting the notion of inclusion, namely a theological position that implies or suggests strongly that homosexuality is God’s design.
Impact of Gospel of Inclusion
Criticism of ideas behind the “Gospel of Inclusion” is one of the primary reasons biblical purist are labeled out of touch with reality and are considered to be conservative extremist.
Gospel of Inclusion. In Christian theology, universal reconciliation (also called universal salvation, Christian universalism, or in context simply universalism) is the doctrine that all sinful and alienated human souls—because of divine love and mercy—will ultimately be reconciled to God.
The Gospel of Inclusion‘ embraces LGBT individuals into the body of Christ, challenges traditional conservative theology, and denounces the threat of God’s plan to have his children burn in hell for eternity.
Biblical passages that plainly state that homosexuality is a sin are now seen as being out of context with the entire bible.
It is unacceptable to preach the scriptures on face value.
The revisionists see the Bible differently. Their version of the scriptures are used to celebrate God’s unconditional love. From their perspective, “true” servants of God display tolerance for everyone; even groups whose behavior or lifestyle blatantly opposed to the historical and traditional principles of the Bible.
Christians who adopt a fundamental or orthodox view of scripture are labeled as mean spirited, biased and even homophobic. Any mention of sin, is highly unpopular.
In a previous article, Does Being A Orthodox Christian Make Me Homophobic?, I wrote that as a Christian I love those who identify themselves as homosexual.
However, as a believer in Christ, I believe that any thought, attitude or behavior that transgresses God’s word is sin. Loving people who are homosexual does not mean to me that one must accept homosexuality.
People of commit adultery or fornication are also God’s children, but God is not pleased with their philandering. Adultery is a sin, but still I care deeply for the people who are adulterers.
Sin is a choice. It is an act of volition. People do not fall into sin. The Bible is clear in that Christ has given us the power, the ability to overcome sin.
The issue is one of principle. Contrary to what many people believe, God is not some celestial puppet master. Every human being is endowed with the freedom of choice. But with that freedom comes consequences.
The Gospel of Inclusion is a choice by some to mitigate Biblical principles to suit their political or theological agenda.
It is not the Gospel of Christ.
As believers we must separate the sin from the sinner. God loves the sinner, but hates the sin.
The bible states categorically that “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” – Proverbs 14:34.
The good news is that God can save anyone. Ignoring sin does not mean that it does not exist.
